On July 7, 2010, two Canadians who were among the brave souls onboard the relief ship Mavi Marmara, the humanitarian vessel that was attacked in international waters, spoke at the Muslim Association of Hamilton Mosque. Farooq Burney and Kevin Neish spoke in Hamilton as part of a tour.
