Former US Congresswoman McKinney stood for justice in her 6 terms. She opposed using cluster bombs in Iraq and Afghanistan. She was 1 of 3 reps to vote for immediate withdrawal from Iraq and first in Congress to call for GW Bush's impeachment.
The first black woman to represent Georgia in the House, McKinney fought racial profiling and tried to unseal files about Martin Luther King's assassination. She advocated strongly for victims of Katrina.
In 2008, she was nominated Green Party presidential candidate. Today, she is a leading critic of the “War on Terror” and the growing security state. At a time of uprisings against US-backed Mideast dictators, she will discuss how to move beyond the US foreign policy that endangers that region and the whole world.
